April was eventful, thanks to Iceland!! Before we left for SA, I was in Amsterdam on a day trip, beautifully sunny and very relaxing….
My mother was hospitalised just before we arrived in SA and spent two weeks in hospital, is it just me, or is the whole patient -doctor relationship completely skew… does the idiot have the right to hold onto tests, scans etc, and how does puny little me convince him to let go? Anyway enough of that, my mom seems to be on the mend….
I missed the trip to Kenton but managed a weekend in the Drakensberg an ended up on a canopy tour, exhilirating, to say the least, and then a cancelled flight so we won a couple of days and managed to fit in rugby at Loftus (the bulls thrashed the lions), another visit to friends and family, a hike in Rietvlei nature Reserve, Gold Reef City and of all things, Fort Schanskop, the Voortrekker monument, at least Alida now knows what a bakkie is and an ossewa…
There is a lot of World Cup hype and all roads in Pta are frantically being worked on, let’s rephrase: a gizillion people are employed to work on all the roads making the tiniest trip a nightmare, is it all going to be finished??? I am waiting in anticipation for the gautrain to reach Hatfield from the airport!! How many people are actually going to SA for the world cup?
